First Listen: Curly's Town

Quarantine Angst

My new song is "in the can" as they say. Er... do they say that for music, or is that just for movies? 🤷 Anyway, it's my latest indie rock guitar stew with some blues licks sprinkled in, a motown beat with a bit of swing, splashes of wah, some heavy distorted guitar breaks and a key change to boot. The cover is an old art project of my daughters - done in construction paper (with graffiti added by me). This one started with the opening riff and harmonics, then I looked for the right drums to fit it out. I ended up with a sort of Motown beat with some swing. This is not really common for me, and ultimately this led me to my title of "Curly's Town" (see: 3 Stooges). The key change from E minor to E in the bridge and outro was not something I was originally planning, but big crunchy guitar chord progression with that lift turned into one of my favorite things about the song.
